"A TALE OF EVERY
ELEPHANT IN
AKAGERA"
Elephants carry stories in their footsteps — tales of memory, family, and survival. Each one holds a world of wisdom worth listening to. They're not just giants of the wild;
Goals And Objectives
"Elephants are among the most intelligent animals in the wild, with complex social structures and strong family bonds. After only four years of working experience as a guide, I was privileged to become the guide for Dr. Tammi Matson in 2018. She came to Rwanda at the invitation of Akagera management to conduct research on Akagera's elephants. That experience changed my life and completely transformed the way I look at the elephants of Akagera National Park. Through this collaboration, we gathered extensive information and many fascinating facts to share with others. It was a strong combination of academic research and traditional, field-based knowledge."

TESTIMONIALS
What Our Clients Say
Community members and fellow guides from the Akagera Community Freelance Guides Cooperative have expressed deep gratitude for the project. Many have said that without the Akagera Elephants Memories program, they would have suffered greatly during the COVID-19 period in 2019–2020. The support received during that difficult time remains a memorable and deeply touching experience, especially because guests transformed into donors when the community needed help the most.
Community Members
Akagera Community Guides
Participants often describe feeling deeply moved and personally connected. Visitors say the experience stays with them long after they leave Akagera, not only because of seeing elephants, but because of understanding their stories, behaviours, and relationship with the surrounding communities. Many feel a sense of responsibility and pride in being part of something meaningful.
